Earthquake (6,8 Richter) shaked Turkey. Many blockflats and administrativ buildings are destroid. There are round 50 killed (not public information) in the towns where the epicentrum was. Many secondary earthquakes are shaking Turkey yet 24 hours. The people are in panic and are afraid to go home. Volcano errupt in one of the poor countries in the world. The results are - many killed, too many poisoned, too many hungry and too many homeless. This is one dark statistics and the worst is that we can do not so much in helf for these people. One more will errupt soon. What will happend in Kolumbia? The same? We have to protect the people and the animals BEFOR the tragedy not after that. Volcanos are unpredictable but they give us a little bit time to act. Why we don't act? The world have to create a programm for preservation of the volcano regions. As sooner, as well!
The earthquakes in Bulgaria in the last week (5 - 9.04.2002) paniked the population. The most powerful one was with magnitude of about 4 Richter. The total number of the earthquakes was about 20. The specialists believe that the seismic activity is at its normal level and the panic is useless. However the people whose houses got kracked didn't think so. One more calamity but... it doesn't matter...
The same week we witnessed one more unusual phenomenon - in southern Spain their were snowfalls as a culmination of the previous cold weather. The weather forecasters expect quick temperature rise but that means new problems for the population because of the expected devastating stroms. The question is: why does it happen?
At 26.04.2002 there was a earthquake in Macedonia - 5.3 Richter. One week later - one more. This time with power 5.31 Richter. The seismic activity is more than the normal level. The earthquakes were feeled in the naibour countries too. There are no destruktions or victims.
Insects are attacking the sown fields in Bulgaria. Marokanian grasshopper are destroying the sown fielfs around. The problem with the insects is provoked from the high temperatures, which are unusual for the season, and from the polluted with gases air. The problem is not only with the grasshopper - in Italy there is a big population of mosquitos and an airport is closed in one city (not in Italy) where there are too many little flys which are destroing all operations of the airport. The problem is big but it is no way to remove it without a global changes in the ecological strategies of all the countries. There is the same problem with the ticks in whole Bulgaria but specially in Varna where the people find ticks in their apartaments and the children are bit once or more times. There are realy too much ticks in the moment, but the panic is superfluous, because the ticks-period is the spring and that's why they will disappear by themselves. Natural calamities all over the world: there are many in the world now: a storm in Croatia made problems in the country; typhoons by the litoral of Japan and Korea. There are about 70 casualties, many people lost their houses; big fires burst out in Portugal and Arizona in the USA. About 4000 families lost their homes, big vegetation areas were destroy. Hail destroy allmost the entire tobacco crop and much from the other crops in Bulgaria. The cold spring this year destroyed the cherry crop and the other early crops on the Balkan halfisland too. The rain in the last week in Bulgaria challange floods in many regions in the country. There are no casualties, but there are much material damages - streets and houses are destroyed. The Killauea volcano errupt in Haway. That was the most dangerous erruption from 1995. There are no casualties.
Storms in North Italy caused a panic. A cloud burst, a thunder- and a hailstorm destroyed the vineyards and the tomato-crops. There are material damages too. The people don't remember another storm like that in the last decades (06.08.2002).
A storm in Burgas-region flood the sity and the villages in the region. There was a half meter water on the streets. A hail destroyed many car-glasses and broke the people's holliday. The european August reminded of the people the parable of the deluge. Several run over rivers killed over a 100 people and caused damages for millions EURO. Some called it the flood of the cetury, others though absolutely reasonably of the connection between the disaster and the hothouse effect. 4 countries were seriously damaged, for others the element miss was just a matter of luck. In Germany, the most affected country, the water in the streets of the sities hit 75cm and 100 buildings were destroyed just in the first few days. 41 000 people were nesessary evacuated in Lower Saxen and Bawaria. The Elba river ran over Munich and Drezden, flooded the Zwinge pallace and the opera house. Besides there was a danger for the exhibits in the pallace. As a ballance we mark a dozen of victims and damages for over 10 mln EURO. in Austria the Danube river raised with 8 cm over the average levelcontinued raising with about 10 cm a day. A part of Vienna was flooded, but the main dandger werw connected with the overflowing of the bridges, which would cut the connections between the two part of the sity. Finally the Danube river hit record levels and flew over a dozen settlements. The Czech Republic was also damaged - the Valtava river rau over pierced the artifical levees and flooded the historical center of Prague and even the theater. A record capasity of the river was marked and 32 000 phone lines were cut. In Sloenje the element stroke last and weaker. The Danube river caused floods, although not fatal, were met with horror from the scared population. The authorities announced a distress.
And while some are happy, because of the pass on of the disasters we are left here thinking of the not so optimistic statement of the scientists, that in the next 50 years we will be witnesses of storms and floods we have never seen before, of hail, which will destroy the farmer's work and all this because of a simple reason - the air is getting warmer, gets more water and... it rains. Fires in Indonezia contributed for the forming of smoke over the whole country and parts of Mala Asia. In some parts the visibility was not more than 1 km and the poisonous substances in the air were over the admissible level and became dangerous for the health. Etna errupt. In Italy are registrated over 150 earthquakes, two of them with magnitute 5,4 and 5,3 Richter. A school is destructed, there are 29 victims, 26 are children. The people are evacuated from South Italy where the earthquakes don't stop. (30.10.2002)
A tanker with 70 000t mazut on board crushed near to the coasts of Spain. Althoudh it was taken out by tugboats far into the ocean, whereby the ecological pollution to be avoided, one patch of mazut reached the coast and polluted it dangerous. The results are really bad for the fauna and the flora. Over 150 000 birds are died or seriously sufferedfrom the mazut patches. The population of the mussels and the other marine dwellers is seriously theatended. The specific flora of the region is much dammaged too. Because of that and because of the dammages of the fishes' population thousans of people have no work now, because at most they are fisher. The people insist on precautionary measures to prevent the nature from future crushes like that.
